Chair Volleyball is a physical activity opportunity for older adults. The game can be played by people with all abilities and activity levels from wheelchair bound to physically active. Regular participation can increase flexibility and stamina.
Chair volleyball is a game played with a 5-foot net, chairs, and a beach ball. Although the game is played from a seated position, it is very fun, friendly, and competitive. Chair volleyball also has many health benefits: it can help reduce stress, boost self-esteem, build confidence, increase range of motion, strengthen core, and improve hand/eye coordination. Arthritis Exercise is designed to increase muscular strength, reduce pain and stiffness, increase range of motion, balance and mobility. There is no cost to attend the program. The exercises are performed sitting and/or standing and everyone works and their own pace. No experience is necessary. Non-skid, supportive athletic shoes are required.
